Celebrating Community Creativity — Medway Art Association Exhibit

Local artists unite under the warmth of “Amber: Resin, Nostalgia, Warmth,” continue building Medway’s creative community

Medway Art Association held a fall art exhibit featuring work by its 15 members. The event took place at the Medway Parks and Recreation Building and was well attended.

This November, the Medway Art Association hosted a vibrant fall exhibit at the Medway Parks & Recreation Building, showcasing the talents of its 15 dedicated members. The event featured an eclectic mix of paintings, sculptures, textiles, photography, and mixed media — even creative pieces using unconventional materials like bowling pins, doorknobs, marbles, and Mod Podge. Young artists also had an opportunity to get hands-on experience, painting and exploring their creativity firsthand.

A highlight of the show was the “Amber: Resin, Nostalgia, Warmth” collection. Each artist contributed one piece, and following the exhibit the collection was relocated to the Medway Public Library. The Amber collection remains on display there until December 4, giving the wider community a chance to appreciate these works of art up close.

For founding MAA member and local fine arts teacher Noelle Fiori Jackson, the exhibit and the association represent more than an art show — they represent building a creative community in Medway. “There’s so much community around sports and other things,” she noted. “And there’s also room for the arts — for families and adults.”

Another member, Mary Weafer — an MFA graduate from Lesley University who exhibited previously with the Cambridge Art Association — said that after experiencing the broader art scene she longed for the same creative spark closer to home. MAA, she says, has “quickly become a cornerstone of local creativity.”

MAA isn’t just about exhibits. The association meets monthly, offers artist talks and studio tours, and organizes community exhibits. Their mission is to bring art beyond studios — into public spaces, local events, classrooms — and to foster meaningful connections between artists and the broader Medway community.

If you’re a local artist looking for connection, inspiration, and a supportive community — or simply an art lover eager to explore local creativity — MAA welcomes new members and supporters. Visit medwayartassociation.org for more information and to join their mailing list.
